1st week in Davao

1st week in Davao

Minggu pertama di Davao

Time flies, my friends… I didn’t realize, I’ve been here for a week.

waktu cepat berlalu, kawan… tanpa ane sadari gan.. dah satu minggu disini

This 1st week firstly filled with helping the sponsor staff in handling the Indonesia-Philippines school partnership workshop

seminggu ini dipenuhi dengan aktifitas workshop kerjasama sekolah Indonesia-Filipina

From last Tuesday until Thursday…

sejak hari selasa hingga kamis kemarin

Friday was my first visit to Consulate General of  Republic Indonesia in Davao City

Hari jumat ini pertama kalinya ane dateng ke kantor Konjen RI

Having lunch in Kantin KJRI

makan siang di kantin KJRI

feels like home, khan?hhehe

And then stay there until evening.

lanjut diskusi tim sampai malam

On saturday, four of us went to SM, a mall in Davao. Firstly, we’d like to watch a movie. But then we cancel it because there are too many people in the lines to buy the tickets. So the plan is cancelled

Hari sabtunya, kami pergi ke SM, mall di Davao. Pengennya sih nyoba nonton di SM, eh, ternyata kalo akhir minggu rame banget dan ngantri panjang banget di “21”nya SM.. hehehe

kasirnya.. pake topi kampanye "bawa tas belanja sendiri" to reduce global warming

In SM, I found something unique

Di SM, ane nemu satu keunikan

The cashiers here are given less money to give change to the customers, so they oftenly asked the customer for small amount of money.

Kasir disini cuma dikasih “jatah” kembalian yang sedikit, jadi biasanya kita ditanya punya uang kecil apa nggak

If they have no change, they will hold a small board such as a racket and held it up high.

Nah, kalo jatah recehan mereka dah gak, ada, si kasir bakalan ngangkat papan yang bentuknya macam raket badminton nobita tinggi tinggi

Then a moment later a senior cashier will come and exchange the P500 or P1000 into change. huft.. how complicated, aren’t they?

Gak lama kemudian, si mbak-mbak yang pegang uang kecil bakal datengin kasir yang minta recehan.. hhuft, ribet bener yak? hehehe

But they are nice and always make sure that the customer had their change properly (this is the 1st day I had my P25 cent, hehehe) Not like in Indonesia, the change is being exchanged with candies.. T_T’

Tapi mereka baik-baik dan satu lagi nih… mereka memastikan pelangganya dapet kembalian komplit plit plit, sampe ke sen! hari ini pertama kalinya ane dapet P25 sen..

Gak kayak di Indo gan.. kalo belanja kembaliannya permen.. hiks..

The point is, Davao is friendly…
